Trae Young drew a charge with a little more than 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter as the Atlanta Hawks faced the Cleveland Cavaliers.

ATLANTA —Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young will not play in Monday night's game against the Sacramento Kings after suffering a concussion Saturday, the Hawks announced on X, formerly Twitter.
According to the Hawks, Young drew a charge with a little more than 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter as the team faced the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers ultimately defeated the Hawks 116-95.
"After an evaluation by the team’s athletic training and medical staff, Young has been diagnosed with a concussion," the Hawks said on X.

Protocol states Young, 25, must now start the NBA-mandated return-to-participation process, the Hawks said.
"This process includes a series of steps designed to ensure an athlete exhibits symptom-free behavior before resuming basketball activities. There is no predetermined timetable to complete the process. Each injury and player is different and recovery time can vary in each case," the Hawks said on X.

Young will join fellow players Mouhamed Gueye, De’Andre Hunter, Vit Krejci and Wesley Matthews to be out of the Hawks-Kings game.
Per his ESPN profile, Young garnered 15 points, five assists and one rebound before exiting Saturday's game.
Young is at risk of not playing in Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors as he will not be traveling with the Hawks during their two-game road trip, per ESPN.
"With Young out for at least Monday's game, Dejounte Murray will take on increased usage as the Hawks' starting point guard, while supporting backcourt players such as Bogdan Bogdanovic, Garrison Mathews, Patty Mills and Trent Forrest could see expanded roles in the rotation," the outlet reported.
Young was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the fifth overall pick in 2018 and subsequently traded to the Hawks. He has scored more than 10,000 points throughout his entire career in the regular season.
