Atlanta Bicycle Coalition Hosts Free Safety Classes For October

The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition will host a series of bike-safety events that are free for all Atlantans this October.

In October 2016, Atlanta Bicycle Coalition will host a series of bike-safety events that are free for all Atlantans.

Whether residents have interest in learning to bike for the first time or want to learn how to better negotiate Atlanta’s streets by bike, ABC has a variety of classes to appeal to all skills levels. Classes include:

True Beginner Class: For absolute beginners, ABC is hosting a two-part class on Oct. 15 and 29 from 1-3 p.m. Attendees will enjoy hands-on instruction to master bike skills, along with in-class instruction on safety, equipment and more. Urban Confidence Classes: For Atlantans who want to learn to more safely negotiate the city’s streets by bike, ABC is launching its monthly classes, “Urban Confidence,” in October. The first classes will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 20; and 2-3:30 p.m. on Oct. 22. Class participants will experience riding on a variety of types of streets via bike, from those with two-directional protected bike lanes to those with no separated lanes for bicyclists. Drop-In Bike Safety Class: At Atlanta Pride At Atlanta Pride on Sunday, Oct. 9, ABC will host four classes from 4-5:30 p.m. that will cover everything from fixing flats to cycling laws and safety to planning safe biking routes around the city using digital tools. The classes are part of Atlanta Bicycle Coalition’s continuing efforts to make biking safer and easier for local residents, while creating a more livable, energized city. Thanks to its programs over the last 25 years, ABC has helped Atlanta secure a place on Bicycling’s “50 Best Bike Cities” for the first time this year.
