Atlanta City Council Bans Smoking, Vaping In Public Places

The airport, city facilities and other public places are included in the smoking and vaping ban, which was approved Monday.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta City Council approved legislation Monday prohibiting smoking and vaping in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, city facilities, and other specified public places . Smoking and vaping are prohibited in bars and restaurants, excluding outdoor seating or serving areas. The legislation aims to protect the public against exposure to secondhand smoke.

City councilmen Post 2 At Large Matt Westmoreland from Midtown and Post 3 At Large Andre Dickens were co-sponsors of the bill.

The city has already banned smoking in restaurants, but this proposal would also prohibit smoking in bars and public spaces. Smokers at the airport would be forced to go outside.
