- Basketball fans are beyond excited that the season has begun, and the upcoming showdown between the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets is looking to be a major game. On Sunday, the two teams will face off at State Farm Arena. The Hawks bowed out in the first round during the last postseason, and fans are hoping the team is returning with renewed confidence. - Although Wednesday's Powerball jackpot has yet to be won, a lottery player in Georgia still came out on top. A ticket purchased at a gas station in metro Atlanta had five matching numbers and the Powerball number, earning the buyer a cool $50,000. The ticket was purchased at a Valero gas station in Decatur. - An accident on I-75 southbound caused significant traffic on Monday morning. Multiple lanes were shut down near Northside Drive as police worked to clear the wreck. Traffic has since returned to normal. There have been no reports on the cause of the accident or the condition of the driver. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- Three Atlanta residents are facing drug and possession charges after a major drug bust in their apartment complex. Alejandro Meraz, Javier Meraz, and Annie Garcia-Sanchez are all accused of smuggling over $75,000 worth of marijuana into Atlanta through west coast airports. More than 54 pounds of marijuana were found in the apartment, which was located at Piedmont Avenue. The three suspects are being held at Fulton County Jail. (WSB Atlanta)
- On Saturday, two lanes of Interstate 285 will be shut down for repairs and maintenance well into 2023. The lanes will run along the Perimeter from Roswell Road to Ashford Dunwoody Road. These lane closures will occur on the east side as well. The repairs, and inevitable traffic, are expected to go on for the next eight months, and drivers are strongly advised to seek alternate routes. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
