An Atlanta Police officer resigned following allegations of a sex-related attack in March.
ATLANTA — An Atlanta Police officer resigned last week amid sexual assault allegations, police are reporting.
Police officials learned of the complaint against the officer on March 30, according to a statement from the department.
The incident, which happened on March 25, involved an on-duty male officer forcing a woman to perform a sex act, according to the police incident report.

The officer was relieved of duty the day police learned of the incident, according to police statements.
“We take allegations like this very seriously and, at this time, the criminal investigation remains open and active,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
