Atlanta Police Shooting Injures Man Allegedly Armed With Gun: GBI
Atlanta officers responded about a man threatening people with a gun, a call that ultimately led to police shooting and injuring the man.
ATLANTA, GA — A 42-year-old Atlanta man was injured in a police shooting Wednesday evening in the 2000 block of Lakewood Drive Southwest, authorities said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Thursday said Atlanta officers received a call about a man threatening people with a gun.
Officers responded around 7:15 p.m. The GBI said when officers arrived, they found the man standing over someone working on a car.

Both the GBI and Atlanta Police said the man refused to put down the gun, resulting in an officer shooting the man.
The GBI said the man ultimately followed commands and laid on the ground. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, the GBI said.

A handgun was found near the man, the GBI said. It is unknown what charges, if any, the man will face.
Once complete, the GBI case file will be given to the Fulton County District Attorneys Office for review.
