Atlanta Rated 8th-Ugliest City By Travel And Leisure Magazine

The City Too Busy To Hate is apparently not too busy to rate: Atlanta's No. 8 in ugly cities, according to Travel & Leisure readers.

ATLANTA, GA -- The city known as Hotlanta has apparently lost a bit of its heat, according to Travel and Leisure, which rated the home of the Braves as the eighth-ugliest city in America in a survey.

Travel and Leisure magazine published its list of America's least attractive cities this week, with its readers noting that they were simply not impressed with Atlantans, although the city scored points for intelligence thanks to its breadth of universities and colleges.

From the rankings, which put Atlanta below Memphis (come on, now), it's clear the Travel and Leisure set doesn't appreciate the benefits of year-round sweet tea, interstate mashups and Coca-Cola. But we digress, at least we're not Baltimore (which was voted No. 1 in ugliness).

Drum roll, please: And the least attractive cities according to Travel and Leisure readers, are:

  1. Baltimore, Maryland

  3. Spokane, Washington
  4. Charlotte, North Carolina
  5. Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  6. Cleveland, Ohio
  7. Tampa, Florida

Don't take it too hard, Atlantans. The Southeast's largest city was previously a member of the most attractive list and may return there one day, just ease up on the sweet tea.
