Fatal Double Shooting Closes I-85 SB In Midtown Ahead Of AM Rush
Police closed I-85 southbound lanes between Lindbergh and the 75/85 junction to investigate fatal shooting ahead of Midtown morning traffic.
ATLANTA — Police are investigating a fatal double shooting Wednesday that shut down all southbound lanes on I-85 in Midtown.
Atlanta Police responded to a reported shooting on I-85 around 5:15 a.m., on Wednesday, according to Atlanta Police spokesman Officer Steve Avery. Two gunshot victims were found on the scene, Avery said. One was taken to a nearby hospital. The second, according to reports from Fox 5 Atlanta News, was discovered shot in the head and found dead in the road.

Reports from the Georgia Department of Transportation’s traffic camera network and WSB Radio/Channel 2 News traffic video showed that the investigation closed all lanes between Lindbergh Drive and the I-85/I-75 (Brookwood) junction, as well as the southbound Buford Highway on-ramp.

Lanes re-opened later Wednesday morning.
