Donald Glover Wins 2 Emmys For ‘Atlanta’

Donald Glover took home 2 Emmys Sunday night for the groundbreaking FX series "Atlanta."

ATLANTA, GA -- Former Stone Mountain resident Donald Glover won two Emmys Sunday night, making history as the first African-American to ever win the award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

Glover then followed that up by winning the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series award, a feat that hadn't been accomplished by a black person since Robert Guillaume did it in 1985 for his work on “Benson." Glover said that he's had a pretty awesome year" but acknowledged that "some people had an awful one." He added, "I don’t know what’s happening right now. It feels like a dream. I’m glad I was able to make history," Glover said, according to USA Today. "But that’s not what I was trying to do. I was just trying to make the best product possible. I was trying to make a really good show."

Glover's directorial win was for the "B.A.N." episode of Atlanta in which Paper Boi stars as a guest on a talk show.

Glover is a very busy man. He is next set to appear on the big screen as Lando Calrissian in a new "Star Wars" flick. He will also be in the new "Lion King."

On Sunday night, he also gave a nod to his music career, where he records under the moniker of Childish Gambino.

He promised that he will do some music with Chance the Rapper -- for the sake of 14-year-olds.
