Howard wins Georgia Senate special election runoff to represent Atlanta district (newsfromthestates.com) — Metro Atlanta is getting a new voice at the state Capitol, as Democrat Jaha Howard narrowly won a special runoff to represent a district spanning parts of Cobb and Fulton counties. He’ll fill the seat vacated by Atlanta Democrat Jason Esteves and has emphasized support for voting, LGBTQ, and reproductive rights while pledging to serve with integrity. Howard will face voters again in next year’s regular elections.
   

2. Atlanta police searching for third suspect months after deadly shooting (wsbtv.com) — Atlanta police are asking for help finding a third suspect in an October fatal shooting on Alison Ct. SW, after arresting two others on murder and related charges. Investigators have released a photo of the man they’re seeking and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. The victim, a 33-year-old man, has not yet been publicly identified.
   

3. Atlanta Habitat for Humanity volunteer surprised with home of her own (wsbtv.com) — A longtime Atlanta Habitat for Humanity volunteer just received her own home in southeast Atlanta’s Browns Mill Village, the same community she helped build. With surprise support from Falcons legend Warrick Dunn’s charity, she moved in with down-payment help and new furnishings, capping 250 hours of sweat equity.
   

4. The life-saving machine that gave one Georgia teen a second chance (11alive.com) — A Georgia teen’s life was saved at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta using ECMO, an advanced life-support system available only at specialized hospitals. After sepsis led to amputations of all four limbs, she’s now walking on prosthetic legs and sharing her journey to inspire others and highlight this critical technology.
