Douglasville Felon Gets 18 Years For Threatening Cobb Narc Officer
Felon already in prison gets more time after repeatedly threatening Cobb undercover officer.
MARIETTA, GA -- A Douglasville felon pleaded guilty this week to threatening a law enforcement agent, Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds announced Thursday. Forty-two-year-old Alejandra Javier Chaves' plea came Monday. He was charged with two counts of terroristic threats, trafficking methamphetamine, and using a contraband cellular telephone to orchestrate the drug transactions.
Prosecutors said that in March 2014, Chaves, who was already behind bars in the Georgia Department of Corrections system, used a smuggled cell phone to negotiate drug deals. His plot unraveled when Chaves starting dealing to an undercover narcotics agent in Cobb.
After two lower-level drug dealers in the scheme were arrested, Chaves discovered that his drug buyer was actually a sheriff’s deputy. Prosecutors said Chaves also repeatedly made threats to kill the deputy and her family.

Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Jason Saliba said that those threats were the straw that broke the camel's back.
“We must protect those who protect us. We will not allow anyone, especially prison inmates, to send poison onto our streets and threaten the lives of our officers or their families,” Saliba, who prosecuted the case, said in a news release.
Judge Joyette Holmes sentenced Chaves to serve 18 years in prison. He was represented by attorney Don Evans of Cherokee County.
