Pellet Guns Shot At People In Sandy Springs, Buckhead From SUV: Police

Police are seeking possible victims in the Sandy Springs and Buckhead areas who may have been shot by a pellet gun from an SUV.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A pair of teens have been arrested and accused of shooting several people with pellet air rifles in Sandy Springs and Buckhead, police said.

Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., Sandy Springs Police were called to Johnson Ferry Road near Bonnie Lane where a man reported he had been shot several times by a pellet gun from a moving SUV, authorities said.

The victim told police he heard at least five shots and was struck three times with enough force to knock him to the ground, according to police reports. Paramedics called to the scene treated the man’s injuries and released him without having to take him to a hospital, police said.

A short time later, Atlanta Police received a similar report of a pellet gun shooting from a similarly described SUV in nearby Buckhead near Wieuca Road and Dudley Lane, according to police reports. Police were able to track the vehicle based on matching descriptions from the two incidents and located it traveling near Roswell Road and Windsor Parkway, authorities said.

Officers stopped the SUV and found two air rifles designed to fire pellets in plain view along with a large cache of pellets, and both 18-year-olds in the vehicle were arrested, police said. Based on interviews with the victims and their identification of the suspects as well as the detective’s interviews with the teens, both teens were charged with aggravated assault, battery, and possession of fraudulent IDs, police said.
