Suspect At Large In Drive-By Shooting That Injured Fulton Deputy

Authorities on Friday told Patch that the Fulton County deputy was scheduled for surgery after being injured in a drive-by shooting.

ATLANTA, GA — A Fulton County deputy who was injured Thursday in a drive-by shooting in the 100 block of Forsyth Street Southwest is set to undergo surgery Friday, authorities told Patch.

The shooting happened around 5:45 p.m. Atlanta Police said at least one suspect shot from a moving car, injuring the deputy, before fleeing the scene.

The sheriff's office received two calls for help that afternoon, one for a suspicious person and another asking for assistance, Fulton County Sheriff Patrick "Pat" Labat said at a news conference.

He added the deputy, who was supporting a fellow deputy, was shot in the lower extremity. The deputy has been with the sheriff's office for at least four years, Labat said.

The suspected shooter was at large, Labat said. A motive has not been revealed.
