Off-Duty Trooper Shoots Man In Weekend With 3 Gun Incidents
Georgia Bureau of Investigations is looking into what caused the Trooper shooting, while Atlanta Police investigate two other shootings.
ATLANTA — Three Atlanta shootings from over the weekend remain under investigation after seven people were injured.
Gunplay came from an officer-involved shooting, a drive-by shooting and an apparent shooting into a home, police said.
In the first of the incidents from Saturday afternoon, an off-duty Georgia State Trooper shot and wounded a man near Grant Park. Around 4:30 p.m., Atlanta Police were called to respond to reports of gunfire at 448 Boulevard. The man was taken to the hospital and the case was taken over by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.

A second shooting took place early Sunday morning in Atlanta’s northwest side where officers were called to a nightclub in the 1090 block of Harwell Road. Police arrived shortly after 4:30 a.m. to find three men outside the club with gunshot wounds. All three were taken to hospitals for their injuries.
Witnesses told investigators that a vehicle driving past fired at the club, striking the three victims. Police are still investigating.

In the third incident, gunshots were reported around 6:45 a.m. from a home in the 1070 block of Peeples Street in Southwest Atlanta. Police called to the home found three people shot. All three were hospitalized, one in serious condition, authorities said.
Investigators are still trying to determine what led to the shooting.
