Earthquake Shakes Atlanta Metro: Did You Feel It?

The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake hit shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday.

GEORGIA — A preliminary 4.1-magnitude earthquake rattled the Atlanta metro and other parts of Georgia on Saturday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The agency said the quake struck around 9:05 a.m.

The epicenter was located about 13 miles southeast of Greenback, Tennessee, officials said, or approximately 200 miles north of Atlanta.

According to a USGS shake map, the quake was felt widely around the Atlanta metro, where residents reported feeling it as far away as Alpharetta, Suwanee and Forsyth.

It's unclear if anyone suffered injuries in the quake.
