Easter 2025: This GA Town Named Top 5 For Celebrating

ATLANTA, GA — The Easter bunny may stop in Atlanta this year as Georgia's capital has been named the fifth Best Place to Celebrate Easter.
An entertainment hub, Atlanta is known for its historic attractions and bustling movie and TV industry; but, WalletHub experts say the southern town ranks among the greatest out of 100 cities for Easter observances.
“The best cities for Easter cater to the religious nature of the holiday by offering plenty of opportunities for Christians to attend services, and they also provide the resources for people to have a great time with their family regardless of religious affiliation," WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said in a news release. "That means lots of places to get some sweet treats or dine out, as well as good weather conditions and nice open spaces for Easter egg hunts.”

Measures such as weather and traditions were considered when selecting the top-notch towns for Easter celebrations.
Overall, Atlanta scored 55.69 with rankings in the following categories: observers (25), traditions (five), kids' Easter (88) and Easter weather (37).

Birmingham, Alabama (No. 1) was undefeated on the national list followed by: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (No. 2); Buffalo, New York (No. 3); and Orlando, Florida (No. 4).
The worst towns were Hialeah, Florida (No. 100); Aurora, Colorado (No. 99); Garland, Texas (No. 98); Lincoln, Nebraska (No. 97); and Arlington, Texas (No. 96).
Easter is traditionally observed as a Christian holiday to mark the end of Lent, a 40-day fast and penance. Holy Week ushers in Easter, which includes Good Friday and Holy Saturday.
Good Friday marks the day Jesus Christ was crucified, and Holy Saturday stamps the transition between crucifixion and resurrection.
In Atlanta, church services, brunches and egg hunts are part of Easter celebrations. This year, Easter will be observed on Sunday, April 20.
The Children's Museum of Atlanta planned to kick off its celebration with 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. story times on Sunday.
Stone Mountain Park will commemorate Easter with two sunrise services featuring Bryant Wright and Crawford Loritts, who will give their messages Sunday from the mountaintop.
The City of Marietta’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the Bunny Brunch from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at Custer Park Sports and Fitness Center, 545 Kenneth E. Marcus Way. Ticket prices range.
More than 90,000 eggs will fall from a helicopter onto Sprayberry High School's football fields at the Northeast Cobb Community Egg Drop. The event will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sprayberry is located at 2525 Sandy Plains Road.
Other community egg hunts will be hosted in Marietta, Brookhaven, Canton, Alpharetta, Dallas, Norcross, Grayson, Lilburn and Decatur.
