Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Arthur Smith Fired After Third 7-10 Season
The firing of head coach Arthur Smith comes after the Atlanta Falcons lost Sunday to the New Orleans Saints, 17-48.

ATLANTA — Following their 17-48 loss to the New Orleans Saints and another disappointing season, the Atlanta Falcons fired head coach Arthur Smith Sunday night.
The team announced the news early Monday, citing Smith's third consecutive 7-10 losing season with the Falcons since his tenure began in January 2021. Smith finished with an overall 21-30 record in Atlanta.
"Decisions like this are never easy and they never feel good. We have profound respect for Coach Smith and appreciate all the hard work and dedication he has put into the Falcons over the last three years," Falcons Owner and Chairman Arthur M. Blank said in a news release.

"He has been part of building a good culture in our football team, but the results on the field have not met our expectations. After significant thought and reflection, we have determined the best way forward for our team is new leadership in the head coaching position."
Blank said the decision was made alongside Falcons Chief Executive Officer Rich McKay.
