Grammy-Nominated Singer Charged In GA Animal Cruelty Case

The arrest in Georgia is the second time the "Anything" singer has been reportedly arrested on animal cruelty charges.

ATLANTA, GA — Renowned R&B singer Jaheim is facing animal cruelty charges, reportedly for the second time, after his arrest in Fulton County.

The "Put That Woman First" singer, whose real name is Jaheim Hoagland, was arrested on May 1 on six counts of cruelty to animals, according to Fulton County Jail records. He was released a day later on a $35,000 bond.

Hoagland was accused of not supplying "adequate food, water, sanitary conditions and ventilation" for dogs Tweet, Tip, Taka, Tink, Timber and Tanger, according to a Fox 5 report, citing court documents.

The Georgia case was the second time in nearly four years that Hoagland has faced animal cruelty charges regarding the care of dogs, Hot 97 reported.

He was arrested in September 2021 in Hillsborough, New Jersey for the alleged "unsafe and unsanitary conditions" of 15 dogs at his home, Hot 97 reported. One of the dogs reportedly had to be euthanized due to its declining health, and several dogs were reportedly malnourished.

Since hitting the music scene in the late 1990s, Hoagland has had multiple Billboard hits, including "Just In Case," "Could It Be" and "Never."

His single, "Finding My Way Back," earned him two Grammy nominations, and "Another Round" garnered a nomination for "Best R&B Album."

He has been nominated for several other notable awards, and in 2003, Hoagland clenched the Best Male R&B Artist accolade at the BET Awards.

Hoagland has not publicly commented on his arrest.
