Filming In GA: Release Dates, New Projects Revealed
Officials have revealed when GA-lensed TV shows and movies, such as "Scream 7," will be released and have named new projects in the works.
Georgia, get ready, because several TV shows and movies filmed in the Peach State will soon be released.
Additionally, other projects featuring top stars are in the works as Georgia continues to lend itself to the cinematic stage.
Last year, officials with the Georgia Department of Economic Development reported an estimated $2.6 billion was spent on filming in Georgia during the fiscal year 2024.

Economic development officials said $11 billion has been spent on filming in Georgia in the last three fiscal years.
This year, Georgia sites will be seen in the following productions (released dates provided by Explore Georgia:

- "Free Bert" (Netflix series): featuring Bert Kreischer, Arden Myrin and Ava Ryan; release date in January.
- "His & Hers" (Netflix series): featuring Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal and Pablo Schreiber; release date of Jan. 8.
- "It's Not Like That" (Amazon Prime Video series): featuring Scott Foley, Erinn Hayes and J.R. Ramirez: release date of Jan. 25.
- "Scream 7:" featuring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Scott Foley, Matthew Lillard, Mckenna Grace, Anna Camp and Joel McHale; release date of Feb. 27.
- "The Breadwinner:" featuring Nate Bargatze, Mandy Moore, Kate Berlant and Kumail Nanjiani; release date of March 13.
- "I Love Boosters:" featuring Keke Palmer, LaKeith Stanfield, Naomi Ackie and Demi Moore; release date of May 22.
- "Scary Movie 6:" featuring Regina Hall, Lochlyn Munro, Anna Faris and Marlon Wayans; release date of June 12.
- "Moana:" featuring Dwayne Johnson, Frankie Adams, Rena Owen and Catherine Laga'aia, John Tui; release date of July 10.
- "Flowervale Street:" featuring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor; release date of Aug. 14.
Notable stars have visited Georgia to film headline-grabbing productions, including Tom Hanks in "Forrest Gump" (Savannah), Jason Bateman in "Ozark" (Braselton and Atlanta), Lawrence Fishburne in "Fled" (Stone Mountain Park) and Burt Reynolds in "Deliverance" (Chattooga River, Lake Tallulah Falls and other sites).
Feature sites, like the Fox Theatre and The Varsity, are among several Georgia film locations.
Others are The Colonnade, Perimeter Mall, The Westminster Schools, the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Sweetwater Creek State Park, downtown Athens and Tybee Island.
Potentially, one of the most famous was the Whistle Stop Cafe in Juliette, which set the scene for Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy in "Fried Green Tomatoes" (1991). The noteworthy movie was also filmed in Fayetteville, Senoia, Newnan, Whitesburg, Zebulon, Agnes Scott College in Decatur and Conyers.
In 2011, "Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son," starring Martin Lawrence and Brandon T. Jackson, was shot in Atlanta, Douglasville and Agnes Scott.
Production for Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels' "Dumb and Dumber To" reimagined Marietta Square as El Paso, Texas. The 2014 acclaimed movie was also filmed in Grantville, Atlanta and the Cobb Energy Center.
