ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Falcons are Super Bowl bound after a strong showing Sunday in the NFC championship game. The Falcons beat the Green Bay Packers 44-21.

The Falcons will face either the New England Patriots or the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl LI in Houston on Sunday, Feb. 5.

The Atlanta Falcons have never won the Super Bowl. Their one and only bowl game was at Super Bowl XXXIII in January 1999 against the Denver Broncos. They lost 34-19.

Sunday afternoon's game was the team's last at the Georgia Dome. They'll start the 2017 season at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

At halftime Sunday, the Falcons had driven up a 24-0 lead. Green Bay got on the board in the second half, but it was too late to avoid jokes on social media.

Super Bowl LI will be played at NRG Stadium in Houston and will be broadcast on Fox.
