Flash Floods, Lightning Threat During GA Storms Wednesday
All of Georgia could soon see triple-digit temperatures as the Peach State battles "baking heat" and thunderstorms packing high winds.
While more storms are on the way this week in Georgia, weekend chances of severe weather is steadily decreasing, weather officials said Wednesday.
Downpours are expected Wednesday afternoon and evening as the National Weather Service predicted a 65 percent chance for thunderstorms for north and central Georgia, which includes metro Atlanta and surrounding counties.
With the "very heavy rainfall," the weather service reported localized flash flooding is probable through Wednesday. Gusty winds and frequent lightning could also be concerning.

Rain is in the forecast daily through at least Tuesday.
The heat has been searing Georgia as of late, pushing heat advisories to be issued in the Peach State. However, after Tuesday's advisory, there was no heat warning as of early Wednesday morning.

Still, temperatures through Sunday can reach as high as 95 degrees, and heat indices could reach 100 to 105 degrees, maybe higher, from Saturday through Tuesday, the weather service said.
Georgia is one of several states to be threatened by the "baking heat," according to a map from AccuWeather.
Temperatures in the southern and western portions of Georgia could touch triple digits on Thursday afternoon, according to an AccuWeather forecast. By Friday afternoon, the private weather company said the entire state could see temperatures of 100 to 105 degrees.
Here is the National Weather Service's Wednesday morning detailed forecast for metro Atlanta:
Today: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. East wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. East wind around 5 mph.
Thursday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. East wind 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Southeast wind around 5 mph.
Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 73.
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Sunny, with a high near 93.
Saturday Night: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 76.
Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Sunny, with a high near 95.
