Forbes: Here’s The Richest Resident In Georgia

Forbes identified the richest person in each state. They may not come as a surprise.

Forbes analyzed the fortunes of the country’s richest people to identify each state’s wealthiest person. This is the magazine’s fifth edition of the list.

Georgia's richest resident is Jim Kennedy, the current chairman of Cox Enterprises, who is worth $9.2 billion, according to Forbes. Cox is a media conglomerate founded by his grandfather, James M. Cox.

The net worth of the individuals on the list varies. For example, Washington is home to the world’s two richest and most recognizable billionaires; Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates, but in certain states, the richest people only had a nine-figure net worth, Forbes writes.

Georgia is home to 13 billionaires, according to Forbes' 33rd annual ranking of the world's billionaires released back in March.

Collectively, the wealthy on the Forbes list had a net worth of $875 billion, which the magazine says set a new record.

The top 10 richest people on the Forbes list are:

  1. Jeff Bezos & family: $157 billion (Washington)
  2. Warren Buffett: $85 billion (Nebraska)
  3. Mark Zuckerberg: $71 billion (California)
  4. Michael Bloomberg: $53.8 billion (New York)
  5. Jim Walton: $51.1 billion (Arkansas)
  6. Alice Walton: $50.1 billion (Texas)
  7. Charles Koch: $42 billion (Kansas)
  8. Sheldon Adelson: $35.7 billion (Nevada)
  9. Phil Knight & family: $35 billion (Oregon)
  10. Jacqueline Mars: $28.1 billion (Virginia)
