Fulton County Grand Jury Indicts Former Principal
The educator is accused of stealing over $800,000.

From the Fulton County District Attorney:
ATLANTA, GA - A Fulton County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against 37-year-old Christopher Clemons. The 48-count indictment returned Tuesday charges Clemons with Theft by Taking by a Fiduciary, Theft by Taking, Theft by Deception, and Forgery.
The Charges against Clemons stem from an investigation into theft-related offenses committed by Clemons while he was principal of the Latin Academy Charter School between July 11, 2014 and June 26, 2015. During that time, investigators discovered Clemons allegedly stole more than $800,000.00 from the school by wiring money from the school’s bank account to his personal bank account and by using money at adult entertainment establishments, for dinners and non-work related travel.

In 2014, Atlanta Public Schools terminated Clemons’s contract with the school system. After the new principal began working at the Latin Academy Charter School, she noticed discrepancies in the school’s bank account. After Atlanta police began investigating the crime, Clemons fled the City of Atlanta. In April of 2016, the defendant was arrested in Denver, Colorado and extradited back to Atlanta to face the above listed charges.
If convicted on all counts, Clemons could receive a maximum sentence of 735 years in prison.
