GA Primary: Fulton County Polls To Stay Open Until 9 P.M.
Votes cast after 7 p.m. won't be scanned by the new voting machines. Instead, ballots will be placed in provisional envelopes.
ATLANTA, GA — All Fulton County precincts will stay open until 9 p.m. for Tuesday’s primary election. Any voter in line at 9 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
Fulton County Superior Court ordered polls be kept open late Tuesday afternoon at the request of the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections.
Starting at 7 p.m. ballots will no longer be scanned. Instead, they will be placed in provisional ballot envelopes, as per state law.

“While the majority of polling places operated smoothly, a number of sites experienced challenges with equipment throughout the day,” Fulton County officials said in a statement. “The extended hours will provide more time for any voters affected by these issues to cast their ballots tonight.”
By about 6:30 p.m., the four biggest counties in the Atlanta metro — Fulton, Gwinnett, Cobb and DeKalb — all had announced that some precincts would close late because of difficulties with crowds and new voting machines.
