Georgia Mayor Tells Democrats to Vote Wednesday in 'Joke' Facebook Post
Jefferson Riley, the mayor of Mansfield, Georgia, said Democrats vote on Nov. 9.
An Atlanta-area mayor is under fire for a post on his personal Facebook page that told Republicans to vote Tuesday and Democrats to vote Wednesday.
Jefferson Riley, the mayor of Mansfield, Georgia — a town of about 400 people in Newton County — made the post Tuesday morning as voters around the country took to polls.
“Remember the voting days: Republicans vote on Tuesday, 11/8 and Democrats vote on Wednesday, 11/9," the post said. Election Day, of course, is Tuesday, Nov. 8, for everybody.

He said the post was a joke, according to the AJC.
A lot of people weren't so amused, especially during an election marred by accusations of voter fraud and suppression, including from the very top of the ticket.
I am disgusted by Jefferson Riley-- mayor of the town that I grew up in . https://t.co/QYxC3xQmF5

Jefferson Riley must be investigated for voter suppression. No official should be allowed to mislead voters re election time and place. #GA https://t.co/bFYoqegb7x

In fairness to Riley, his (presumed) presidential candidate, Donald Trump, mistakenly told supporters last month to go out and vote on Nov. 28.
Riley was elected mayor in 2014. Riley, who owned Conyers-based THP Printing, was the only candidate who ran for mayor.
