Georgia Tech Explosion Injures Student

A building at Georgia Tech had to be evacuated after an explosion.

ATLANTA, GA — A lab explosion at Georgia Tech injured a student Friday, and the building had to be evacuated, college officials told Patch.

The student suffered minor burns in the isolated incident, which happened at the campus' Molecular Science and Engineering building in the BioQuad area, college officials said.

The condition of the student was not immediately known.

Workers in the Molecular Science and Engineering building evacuated as a precaution, college officials said. They have since returned to their offices at the Atlantic Drive Northwest building.

Fire and police personnel were on scene with Environmental Health and Safety experts, college officials said.
