Georgia Weather Forecast: Hot Temps, Storm Chances Settle In

We'll finish the weekend with hot temperatures and a chance for evening showers or storms. And the work week looks like it will be singing the same tune, according to the latest forecast.

There's a 30 percent chance of storms Sunday, mainly after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. But you're more likely to notice the heat. The heat index, or "feels like" temperature will reach 97 degrees by mid-afternoon.

The heat index will stay in the mid- to upper-90s for most of the week, with at least a chance for showers and storms every day. At least at the front of the week, you can add "noticeable wind" to the forecast, too.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season is heating up this week, with Tropical Depression 8 forming Sunday. The system is likely to impact the coast of the Carolinas early this week. Another storm system may for in the gulf.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Sunny, with a high near 92.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 89.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 88.
