Georgia Weather Forecast: Storms to Start the Week

ATLANTA, GA — We won't escape the heat just yet, but fall-like temperatures are on the horizon.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The best chance for bad weather will be to the north, but there is still a good chance of showers and storms through the Atlanta metro late Monday, according to the weather service outlook.

Chance for storms will continue into Tuesday afternoon, before skies clear.

The rest of the week and into the weekend will see temperatures cool to the upper 70s to near 80 — finally feeling a little like fall — and under sunny skies.

Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. East wind around 5 mph.

Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Southeast wind around 5 mph.

Monday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind around 5 mph becoming northwest after midnight.

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 80.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 76.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 78.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 78.
