Oktoberfest is a yearly festival that was born on Oct. 12, 1810 in Munich, Germany and is normally held for two weeks through the first Sunday in October, according to Brittanica.

It was birthed out of celebration for the nuptials of King Louis I, the crown prince of Bavaria, and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen.

Through the years, the festival developed to include food and drinks, beer halls and a state agricultural fair.

Oktoberfest is opened with the tapping of the first keg, and about 2 million gallons of beer are drank during the Munich festival, which attracts about 6 million annually.
