Here are the top five stories in Atlanta today:

  1. Grady Hospital is launching a hospital-based violence intervention program in January, intending to save lives by intervening in the emergency room or a patient's bedside. Hope Hustlers, an outreach team and violence interrupters, is partnering with the hospital to decrease gun violence in the Atlanta area. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  2. According to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Atlanta is a world leader in climate action and was recognized by the organization on its "CDP Cities A List." CDP is a nonprofit in charge of the world's environmental conversation system and releases the list to encourage climate action and celebrate governments with urgent action.   3. Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department was called to a fire at a commercial warehouse on Monday — the second time the location has caught fire. The building had severe collapse conditions and needed additional resources for several other fires within the warehouse. No injuries were reported, and the fire is still under investigation as of Monday evening. (WSB Atlanta)
  4. According to Attorney General Chris Carr, the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office arrested eight people on Nov. 11 for human trafficking, racketeering, and criminal gang activity. The case was developed by multiple county agencies, who said four women were trafficked, including one minor. The DeKalb, Gwinnett, Monroe, and Fulton County residents sit in jail with several charges. (Atlanta Patch)
  5. Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing has a new simulation and learning center that now holds the world's most advanced interdisciplinary patient simulator. Gaumard Scientific Co. installed the first-ever commercial version of HAL S5301, which has several features, including conversational speech enhanced by artificial intelligence. This technology's capabilities allow students to immerse themselves in realistic clinical practice scenarios. (SaportaReport)
