Horse Found Dead On Sidewalk In Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA — A horse was found dead around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 90 block of Peachtree Street Northwest, Atlanta Police said.

A witness told officers the horse suffered a possible medical emergency and collapsed on the sidewalk, police said.

Social media video appeared to show the horse lying on the ground with its eyes open.

"We are aware of the unfortunate incident involving a deceased horse on Peachtree Street NW. We have identified the owner of the horse, and that person is cooperating with us," police said in a statement released on Facebook.

Both the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and Fulton County Animal Services worked to remove the horse from the area, police said.
