Intruder Shot, Killed Breaking Into Old Fourth Ward Home: Police
Police say a homeowner was defending himself when he killed a man who climbed through his window and attacked him.
ATLANTA — No charges are being filed against an Old Fourth Ward homeowner who shot and killed an intruder while he was also shot, police said.
Around 1:15 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a person shot at a home on Howell Street. Officers found that two men had been shot. One man was dead at the scene and the other was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his wounds.
Investigators learned that the survivor owned the home and in the house when the second man broke in through a window, according to police reports.

When the intruder attacked the homeowner, the homeowner shot the man, police said. The homeowner then called 9-1-1 and waited for officers to arrive to cooperate with the investigation, police said.
