​James Beard Award Finalists Include 4 From GA, 3 From Atlanta

The Grey, Miller Union and Ticonderoga Club among the Georgia restaurants named finalists for the James Beard Awards.

ATLANTA, GA — Three Atlanta restaurant organizations and one Savannah location have been named finalists for this year’s James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards.

Making the cut from the dozens of semifinalists this year, including 13 from Georgia, makes these finalists the cream of the crop.

Claudia Martinez, of West Midtown’s Miller Union, is among the finalists for the Outstanding Pastry Chef award.

Making the Outstanding Restaurateur list is Kevin Gillespie, owner of Red Beard Restaurants which manages Gunshow in East Atlanta and Revival in Decatur.

Ticonderoga Club, of the Old Fourth Ward’s Krog Street Market, made the final cut for American Arlines’ Outstanding Hospitality award.

In Savannah, The Grey’s Mashama Bailey was named one of the Outstanding Chef finalists for her work in the kitchen of the reimagined bus depot.

James Beard Foundation Finalists: The Full List

The James Beard Foundation last month also gave a nod to a part of Atlanta’s history, honoring the iconic Busy Bee in Atlanta's Vine City as one of six "American Classics" Award winners

All winners will be honored at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony on June 13 at the Lyric Opera in Chicago.
