Junior League of Atlanta Celebrates Georgia Pre-K Week, Reaching Nearly 1,000 Students Across Atlanta

Through Every Child Reads, the Junior League of Atlanta inspires a love of reading among the city's youngest learners.

Atlanta, GA – October 9, 2025 — The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. (JLA) proudly celebrated Georgia Pre-K Week by reaching nearly 1,000 Pre-K students across the city of Atlanta, sharing the joy of reading at APS classrooms, YMCA centers, Sheltering Arms, Easter Seals, and other early learning sites.

As part of JLA’s Every Child Reads initiative, more than 80 Pre-K students from YMCA and Sheltering Arms were hosted at the Alliance Theatre for a special performance of Birthday of the World and interactive storytelling workshops featuring the book Atlanta, My Home. Each child left with a JLA goodie bag filled with a t-shirt, crayons, a water bottle, a craft activity inspired by Every Amazing Story (this year’s official Georgia Pre-K Week book), and a special book gift from JLA.

“Georgia Pre-K Week is a powerful reminder that a child’s love of reading can shape their future,” said Macie Thompson, President of The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. “Through Every Child Reads and our long history of supporting early learning, JLA is proud to stand alongside educators and community partners who make literacy accessible and joyful for every child in Atlanta.”
