Man Accused Of Shooting 2 Georgia Deputies Arrested

More than a week after the GBI said Tyler Keith Henderson shot two deputies, he was arrested Sunday in Thomas County.

ATLANTA, GA — A man accused of shooting two South Georgia deputies more than a week ago is finally behind bars. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Thomas County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Tyler Keith Henderson was arrested in Thomas County on Sunday.

"He will now be a resident of the Thomas County Jail and will be held accountable for trying to take the life of three of our deputies," the Thomas County Sheriff's Office posted to its official Facebook page.

According to the GBI, Henderson shot two Thomas County Sheriff's Office deputies around midnight Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022 in Ochlocknee, Ga.

Law enforcement officials did not say where in Thomas County that Henderson was taken into custody, but the Thomas County Sheriff's Office said it's grateful for the support it received from multiple agencies.

"Sheriff Carlton Powell would like you each to know how appreciative we are for the out pour of support. There are to many names and agencies to list, but we are very thankful for you. May God Bless You All!" the sheriff's office posted to social media. "Our efforts will now shift to getting our deputies back to 100%."

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office said it is in the process of planning a fundraiser to help the deputies shot in the line of duty.

The sheriff's office announced Monday that its second deputy is now out of the hospital and and at home recovering with his family.

"Please continue to pray for all of the deputies involved, these men are heroes in every sense of the word," the sheriff's office said.
