Man Killed By Large Tree That Fell On His House: Reports

ATLANTA — A man died after he was crushed by a large tree that fell on his house during overnight storms that hit the Atlanta area during the weekend, according to reports.

Atlanta News First identified the victim as 61-year-old Edward Johnson.

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. Sunday on Matilda Place Northwest in the Grove Park neighborhood, 11 Alive reported.

“On February 16, 2025, a tree fell on our house during a freak storm and my dad was crushed underneath it,” Tamaya Jones wrote on a GoFundMe page to raise money for Johnson’s funeral and the family’s relocation. “He was an amazing man, a loving husband, and father.”
