TOWNS COUNTY, GA — A manhunt continues Wednesday for a Georgia inmate who walked away from a work detail on Monday afternoon in Towns County.

Authorities said Bruce Douglas Partin Jr., 39, a trustee with the Towns County Sheriff's Office inmate work detail, was working at the county dump off Highway 288 about 2:30 p.m. when he walked into the woods.

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office deployed a drone and K9 tracking dog to search for Partin, without success.

Partin was being held in the Towns County Detention Center awaiting a court appearance on these charges:

  • Purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana
  • Theft by taking
  • Probation violation
  • Two counts of burglary

The sheriff's office said about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Partin was spotted on a trail camera at the end of Ivy Mountain Road in the Fodder Creek area.

Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Natural Resources have used aerial patrol and K-9 units to assist with the search and capture of Partin, who remains at large.

Towns County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $500 reward for information leading to Partin's arrest.

He is described as a 39-year-old white male, 6 ft. 4 in. tall with brown hair, brown eyes wearing an orange jumpsuit.
