How To Navigate Publix Atlanta Marathon Weekend Road Closures
Here's how to navigate the Publix Atlanta Marathon events and all the road closures and traffic they could create this weekend.
ATLANTA, GA – This weekend’s 2022 Publix Atlanta Marathon events will include plenty of activities for the hundreds of participants registered to either run or volunteer.
And information for where those involved in the many races and activities should be is available for them. But what about the rest of us?
A marathon is a massive undertaking that closes off streets and shuts down traffic. While Saturday morning’s events – to include several youth races and a 5K – will be less intrusive and confined to a smaller window of time when many of us are still sleeping in (6:30-9:30 a.m.), Sunday will comprise a much larger footprint of the city and spread across nearly nine hours of the day (5:30 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.).

The marathon and half-marathon courses will stretch from as far south as Grant Park, as west as Vine City, as far north as Piedmont Park and the Botanical Garden, and as far east as Moreland Avenue and Freedom Park. Most of the event information is available online from the Atlanta Track Club website.
To help those non-participants and casual (or invested) spectators navigate Saturday’s and Sunday’s events, Patch has compiled an hour-by-hour guide of what to expect including links to course maps marking potential road closures:
