Metro Boys & Girls Club Get Newly Refurbished Space
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Atlanta's Joseph B. Whitehead Boys & Girls Club.

ATLANTA — The Michaels Companies held a ribbon-cutting ceremony recently to unveil a new creative and artistic “Michaels MAKE Space” at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s Joseph B. Whitehead Boys & Girls Club. The newly renovated space, which is an extension of Michaels three-year partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, will provide thousands of youth each year with the ability to explore their creative and artistic sides in an inclusive and encouraging artistic environment.
The Michaels MAKE Space is fully stocked with arts and craft supplies. This new creative space includes a newly renovated performance space featuring updated dance floors, lighting and sound equipment, as well as a fine arts and crafting studio complete with t-shirt printer, décor and supplies from Michaels. In addition, the space will allow for BGCMA staff to work closely with youth on both personal art projects designed to unlock creativity through the club’s ongoing art program, as well as initiatives to help service the great Atlanta community.
The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta first opened its doors in 1938 on 314 Washington Street and to this day aims provide children who are most in need a safe place to grow, learn and realize their full potential. With a wide range of programs, the club supports healthy lifestyles, academic success, character-building and leadership development.
