- Passengers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport were dealing with multiple cancellations over the weekend into Monday. Reportedly, there were more than 150 flights impacted as of Monday afternoon. Some people were still waiting for new flights after theirs were canceled over the weekend. Airlines are blaming high demand, severe weather, and staffing shortages for the cancellations happening across the country. (WSB Atlanta)
- Kroger Farmers Market has announced a partnership with Market Wagon in metro Atlanta to bring customers access to over 60 farms, chefs, and artisans in the area. Kroger Farmers Market offers a local assortment of over 1,150 products featuring free-range eggs and a variety of veggies grown without pesticides. Customers who are within a 60-mile radius of Atlanta, encompassing 28 counties, can place their orders and choose their preferred delivery day of either Tuesday or Friday. - Three people have been charged after a street racing activity led to a chase and subsequent crash in Atlanta over the weekend. On Friday night in Northeast Atlanta, police were called to the scene where they found the intersection of Rock Springs Road and Piedmont Avenue shut down by street racing participants. One of the vehicles spotted the police and attempted to flee, hitting a black Mercedes on Monroe Drive. Thankfully, there were only minor injuries and the driver and two passengers were taken into custody shortly after. (CBS 46 News)
- The city of Atlanta’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is nearing its goal of employing 3,000 young people in the area. City departments including Fire and Rescue, the Department of Corrections, Parks and Recreation, and the Office of Film and Entertainment are showing young people the aspects of day-to-day operations running Georgia’s capital city. Young people aged 14 to -24 can enroll in the program which provides internships, apprenticeships, career exploration, and earn-to-learn opportunities. Learn more about the opportunity at the link.
