He was shot to death in the head in the May 18 incident, which happened around 7 p.m. on the ninth floor of an apartment complex that primarily houses students, police said. The targeted shooting resulted from an escalated verbal dispute, police said.
Police said Banerjee was breathing, though he was not alert or conscious, when officers arrived. He was taken to a hospital, where he died two days later, police said.
