The Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra is celebrating 30 years.
ATLANTA, GA — (from the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra): The 2019-20 season of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra celebrates 30 years of creating impactful musical experiences for Atlanta’s young musicians. This season kicks off with MYSO’s Fall Concert on November 3 at 3:00 PM at Georgia State University’s Kopleff Recital Hall.
Established in 1990, MYSO is comprised of two ensembles, Symphony and Philharmonia, plus a chamber music program, that all rehearse weekly at Georgia State University. For 30 years MYSO has been dedicated to providing engaging opportunities for talented young musicians to develop the musical skills required to perform some of the greatest literature ever written. In addition to the Fall Concert, MYSO will present two additional concerts at the beautiful Rialto Center for the Arts, February 16 and May 10, 2020. The May concert will include Alumni members both on stage and in the audience to help celebrate 30 years of exceptional music making.
Highlights of the past 30 years include a performance at Carnegie Hall, concert tours to China, Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Hawaii and Costa Rica, performances at the Georgia Music Educators Conference In Service Conference, the 51st Annual Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, E-Trade Half-time Show of Super Bowl XXXIV and the 55th anniversary of the United Nations. MYSO has even played a role in the Disney Entertainment Millennium Orchestra.
