Nearly $39.4M Won In GA Lottery Scratch-Offs

Georgia Lottery roundup: Millions of dollars were recently won, including a $2 million prize in a $2 Million Dollar Multiplier scratch-off.

A few dollars can sometimes lead to millions for Georgia Lottery players; and recently, this concept rang true for one lucky winner.

The Georgia Lottery said a Statham resident won a $2-million prize playing the $2 Million Dollar Multiplier scratch-off game.

The winning ticket was bought at an Atlanta Highway grocery store in Athens, and the prize was claimed Wednesday, lottery officials said.

Last week, Georgia players claimed $39,371,974 in prizes from scratchers, lottery officials said.

Saturday's Fantasy 5 drawing led to a $1,254,315 jackpot win for a Duluth resident. The winning ticket was bought at a Sugar Loaf Parkway grocery store and matched all five numbers, lottery officials said.

In Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing, a ticket purchased at a Fayetteville gas station was worth $20,000 and matched four of the five white-ball numbers plus the Mega Ball. With a 2x Megaplier, the $10,000 prize doubled to $20,000, lottery officials said.

That day, a Grantville resident won $11,549 playing the Elephant King Jackpots diggi game on the Georgia Lottery mobile app.

In Ellenwood, a Georgia Five player on Monday won $10,000 in the evening drawing with a ticket bought from a Panthersville Road gas station, lottery officials said.

Other prizes this week included the jackpot for $298,947 in Wednesday's Fantasy 5 drawing with an Inner Perimeter Road store in Valdosta and a $10,000 prize from the Royal Jumbo Bucks diggi game Tuesday for a Loganville player.

A Willacoochee resident won $502,655 playing the Vaults Bonus Boost diggi game on Saturday, an Aragon resident won $19,137 playing Wolf Ridge the day prior, lottery officials said.

All funding from the Georgia Lottery's digital games, scratch-offs and other games benefit education in the Peach State, lottery officials said.

Online winning tickets have an expiration date of 180 days from the drawing date while instant ticket winners have 90 days from the expired date to claim prizes. Instructions on how to receive prizes are here.

Georgia takes 5.75 percent in state taxes and 24 percent in federal taxes for winnings more than $5,000.

"The (Georgia Lottery Corporation) reports to the IRS and Georgia Department of Revenue the names of winners of prizes above $600. ... Additionally, the GLC is required to check for and deduct any outstanding child support payments for prizes of $2,500 and above and student loans and state taxes for prizes of $5,000 and above, net of wager or ticket cost," lottery officials said on the Georgia Lottery website.
