New Acting U.S. Attorney Named For Atlanta
Interim who took over after Byung"BJay" Pak's resignation in January returns to leading district in Savannah, Albany.
ATLANTA — A new name will be added to the title of Atlanta’s U.S. Attorney — after just a month.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Kurt Erskine has been elevated to acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District in Georgia, according to the U.S. Department of Justice spokesman Robert Page. Erskine takes over from Bobby Christine, who led the district for the last month in addition to his permanent role as head of Georgia’s Southern District.
Christine took over in January after long-time District head Byun Jin “BJay” Pak — who was nominated by former President Donald Trump — abruptly resigned amidst allegations that Trump forced him out.

Erskine has been at Georgia’s Northern District for more than a dozen years, Page said.
It is unclear whether he will be named the permanent head of the district or if President Joe Biden will nominate a new U.S. Attorney.
