O, Canada! Chick-fil-A's First Overseas Location Opens Friday
The Atlanta-based chain's first international franchisee owned restaurant opens in Toronto, with plans for 15 more in five years.
ATLANTA — Chick-fil-A's international expansion plans take a big step on Friday, when the Atlanta-based chain's first franchised restaurant in Canada opens on Yonge Street in Toronto. The 4,400-square-foot restaurant will offer Chick-fil-A's full range of menu items, including its chicken sandwich that will be made with a Canadian-raised chicken breast filet.
Chick-fil-A will also serve two coffee blends roasted in the greater Toronto area and developed for Canadian tastes. In addition to featuring Canadian-raised chicken, some of the menu’s baked goods, dairy, eggs and produce will be sourced in Canada.
The restaurant will be independently owned and operated byWilson Yang. His restaurant has created more than 100 local jobs across a team made up of part-time positions, and full-time director-level staff. “I’m excited to be Chick-fil-A’s first Operator in Toronto. My wife Drew and I recently moved nearby to the restaurant, and I can’t imagine a better city to live and work,” said Yang.
