Plane Tires Blow Out During 'Hard' Landing At ATL Airport: Reports

Passengers heading from Peru to Atlanta spent at least 2 hours on Flight 2482 after the plane's tires blew out during landing, reports say.

ATLANTA, GA — Passengers on Tuesday night spent hours stuck on a LATAM Airlines flight from Peru after after the tires exploded during a "hard" landing at the Atlanta airport.

Passengers traveling from Lima, Peru to Atlanta spent at least two hours on Flight 2482 after the aircraft's tires blew out during landing, WXIA-TV's Cody Alcorn reported via X.

FlightAware data showed the Boeing 767-300 landed around 7:30 p.m. at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after a more than seven-hour flight.

The Boeing blew its rear landing gear tires, WAGA-TV reported, citing the Federal Aviation Administration.

A passenger told Alcorn the tires "looked like they were halfway melted.”

Another passenger who documented their experience on X said the plane landed "so hard that the entire aircraft was shaking, a wheel was rattling, and the bathroom door came off." The user shared a photo which appears to show a bathroom door off of the hinges, and a video clip of the apparent blown tires.

Buses transported the passengers from the plane to the airport gate, according to the passenger via X.

The cause of the blowout was not immediately known. Media reports say there were no injuries.
