Police Seek Fourth Suspect In Woman's Fatal Shooting In Atlanta
Police say Shanna Smith, 24, was dropping off a co-worker on Hadlock Street in Atlanta when she was shot twice in the head.
ATLANTA, GA -- Police in Atlanta are looking for new leads in the slaying of a woman who was shot to death while dropping a co-worker off at her home, Patch has learned. The brazen shooting happened last August on Hadlock Street in southwest Atlanta.
Police said that Shanna Smith, a 24-year-old Amazon employee, was driving through an intersection at Hadlock and Leslie Avenue when she was shot twice in the head by a group of gunmen. Her BMW sedan crashed into a nearby tree; its wheels still spinning when first responders showed up, as Patch previously reported.
Three suspects were arrested in the days immediately after the incident, but one of the alleged gunmen -- Matthew Larkins -- remains on the loose. Atlanta police have released images of Larkin in hopes that someone recognizes him and can provide information on his whereabouts.

Other than that, little information has come out about the incident, but police now say that the shooting was a case of mistaken identity. "It was retaliation and these young men tried to even the score so to speak, and unfortunately they got the wrong person," Atlanta police Maj. Adam Lee told WSB-TV.
The victim's son now lives with his grandmother in the Bahamas. Police are urging anyone with information that may lead to an arrest of Larkins to contact or call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
