Woman found shot to death in her car on Highway 18 in Troup County; Deputies continue search for shooter.
ATLANTA — Investigators are searching for a man they believe shot and killed a pregnant LaGrange woman in her car as she traveled Tuesday along a southwest Georgia highway.
Shortly before 1 p.m., Troup County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a vehicle accident at Georgia Highway 18 near East Drummond Road. Deputies arrived to find 29-year-old Akeila Ware unresponsive in her passenger car with what appeared to be gunshot holes in the door, according to incident reports.
Ware was taken to a nearby hospital where medical officials learned that she was pregnant. Both Ware and her unborn child died shortly after she arrived at the hospital, authorities said.
