2 Deadly Shootings, Others Shot During Violent Atlanta Weekend

Two men are dead and several more were injured during a weekend with numerous shootings.

ATLANTA — Police are investigating a deadly shooting and car fire early Monday morning in Northwest Atlanta.

Officers were called to the 2300 block of Sisk Street in Atlanta’s Almond Park neighborhood shortly after 2:30 a.m., when a car hit a parked vehicle and started a fire.

An Atlanta Fire Rescue crew quickly arrived and extinguished the blaze, and authorities discovered a man shot to death inside the burned-out vehicle, police said.

This was just one of several violent incidents reported in Atlanta over the weekend.

On Sunday evening around 8:40, reports of shots fired in the 1100 block of Oak Street led police to a man injured from gunshots. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but officers investigating the shooting learned of another man shot roughly two blocks away.

They arrived at the 900 block of Oak Street to find the man dead, police said.

Police are investigating a shooting reported early Monday morning at in the 1700 block of Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard, on Atlanta’s northwest side.

Two men are injured from an attempted robbery early Sunday evening at the RaceTrac convenience store near Georgia State University on the corner of Piedmont Road and John Wesley Dobbs, according to WSB-TV.

One man was shot, and the other man with an injured arm, according to reports.

All of the incidents are under investigation.
