ATLANTA, GA — "Fast and Furious" star Tyrese Gibson was booked Friday into the Fulton County Jail on a single charge of cruelty to an animal, jail records showed.

He was released the same day on a $20,000 surety bond, according to jail records.

Authorities say Gibson's four Cane Corso dogs killed a 5-year-old King Charles cavalier spaniel on Sept. 18, when his dogs ran loose in a Buckhead community. The slain dog, named Henry, was found dead by his owner five minutes after being let outside, WXIA reported.

Minutes later, the authorities were called and officers with Animal Control had to escort a woman to her car after Gibson's dogs blocked her from the vehicle, CBS News reported, citing police.

Gabe Banks, Gibson's attorney, in a statement released Tuesday and obtained by People, said Gibson re-homed "his dogs to a safe and loving environment."

The statement also read: “Mr. Tyrese Gibson extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home. Concerning the misdemeanor warrant, Mr. Gibson is cooperating fully with authorities to address and resolve this matter responsibly."

Recent events were not the first time Gibson has been warned about his dogs. Reports say the dogs were caught running loose five times at least a week before Henry died.

Gibson, of "Baby Boy" and "Fast and the Furious" fame, was first known as a singer who belted ballads "Lately," "Sweet Lady" and "How You Gonna Act Like That."

He has had 11 records, two of them top 10 hits, to land on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
